Additionally, some sectors of the American economy offer vibrant job opportunities, such as business and professional services, information, education, healthcare, transportation, and tourism.

In this blog post, we offer an overview of how the labor market in the US is moving in each state and what economic sectors are offering more jobs.

The US Labor Market is Offering Mixed Signals About Where the American Economy is Going

Even though the US is heading for a recession, according to recent statistics from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that inflation is worsening, the job market is expected to be healthy in 2022, with a few states standing out as influential performers.

“As the U.S. continues to navigate the lasting ripple effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, key economic indicators are sending mixed messages about where the economy stands today,” explains Marko Csokasi. These Are the Industries With the Most Job Positionings in 2022

According to Ben Wick and Madison Hoff, “The US is absolutely rife with job opening, but just handful sectors account for the majority of today’s extraordinary demand for workers”.

This information leads to infer that there is an imbalance between job openings that varies dramatically in the US from sector to sector.

For instance, mention Wick and Hoff, industries like mining and logging “have just a few thousand openings”. At the same time, the professional and business services sectors provided 2 million open job positionings in April 2022.

Here are the industries with the most job positionings in 2022:

Professional and business services. This industry is projected to add most job positionings in the US. For example, the most significant job gains are expected in computer systems design and related services, accounting and bookkeeping, management consulting, and human resources.

Education and health services. The growth in employment in the education and healthcare industry is driven by various factors, including an aging population and increased demand for healthcare services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, many states are investing in early childhood education, which is also expected to contribute to job growth in this sector.

Trade, transportation, and utilities. This sector is projected to add millions of jobs for drivers, flight attendants, customer service representatives, and power plant operators.

Leisure and hospitality. The hospitality industry is predicted to experience significant growth in the coming years. This growth is attributed to several factors, including an increase in travel and tourism and the continued growth of the food services industry.
