The Patient Access Representative Virtual Assistant assist in performing non-nursing clerical functions supportive to direct nursing care, facilitating communications, and traffic flow. The Patient Access Virtual Assistant Representative operate a computer telephone system, maintaining courteous and efficient communication between patients, various departments and staff. The Patient Access Representative Virtual Assistant admit patients to the hospital, also register outpatients for ancillary services as needed. Patient Access Representative Virtual Assistant Responsibilities:
- Pre-registers, pre-admits, and admits patients by telephone.
- Collection of accurate demographic information, review and interpretation of insurance benefits.
- Obtaining prior authorizations, cash collections, interaction with public assistance programs.
- Referral of appropriate cases to other internal and external sources to assist patients with discharge/post-hospital care.
- Express thoughts clearly and concisely (written).
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Verify insurance and method of payment, collects fees, co-payment, and payments on account.
Patient Access Representative Virtual Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma or related.
- Experience as an employee of a hospital or doctor’s office.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer abilities, knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
