Mechanical Designer/Drafter

The Mechanical Designer/Drafter is responsible for creating a 3D models of products in modeling software. The Mechanical Designer/Drafter create these models from scratch and also update existing models. A few of the main duties of a The Mechanical Designer/Drafter are creating models in CAD, help design new products, create standard models, and edit any changes based on customer preference. The Mechanical Designer/Drafter also have to specify correct dimensions and material. One of the most important skills that a Mechanical Designer/Drafter will have is their ability to correctly create the model needed.

Mechanical Designer/Drafter Responsibilities:

• Ability to interpret customer specifications and understand method of fabrication outlined in estimate for incorporation into mechanical drawings.
• Drafting mechanical fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of basic material specifications to the extent all information requirements for material purchase, fabrication and construction are reflected on the finish drawings.
• Performs drafting operations for the determination of project plans and collects data for Project designs.
• Prepares complex drawings for engineering projects.
• Develops and drafts fabrication drawings and plans, drafts contract documents and generates correspondence for clients and managers.

Mechanical Designer/Drafter Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in Drafting/Design or related field.
• Must have a solid understanding of AutoCAD Drafting software.
• Experience with completing basic facility field walk down notes and reducing those notes to drawings in.
• Computer-aided design software.
• Ability to prepare changes in drawings following established techniques/procedures.
• Technical and fabrication knowledge capacity.
• Written and verbal communication proficiency.
• Thoroughness and attention to detail.
